    Pet Odor    
  Many pets decide that they like a particular location inside the home to relieve themselves. If the contamination goes unnoticed and the behavior persists, a foul, very identifiable odor will develop, especially with cats. This odor can be a real nightmare to correct depending on the frequency and amount of urine, biochemistry of the pet, and the condition and type of flooring in the home. In the most severe cases, the carpet and padding will have to be replaced. This is because the pet urine saturates the carpet and the padding underneath.  In the picture to the right, cat urine has saturated the sub-flooring.   Mild to moderate pet urine contamination can be corrected and the odor completely removed. The source of the odor must be cleaned out of the carpet and subfloor. There are several ways to do this. In most situations, a controlled flood can be performed using special solvents and deodorizers which penetrate all levels of the flooring. The contaminated area is allowed to soak and then is removed using high end flood restoration extractors. Sometimes replacement of the carpet is necessary, especially when selling the home is the objective.
